The Spirit of Giving!

the spirit of giving

The spirit of giving! It's that time of the year again! Apple cider, roasted chestnuts, shoveling snow from driveways. It may be a miserable 65 degrees where I live, but I still feel the cheerful spirit just like everyone else! This holiday can be stressful for many, with shopping in crowds and buying the right gifts and traveling and dealing with family and Uncle Eddie that you may see only once a year.

It's certainly a stressful season for me, with school and a retail job on top of the other fun-filled adventures. But I believe it is important to take a step back and be thankful. After all, being thankful can be year round, not just on Thanksgiving. It is important as well to give, not just to family with a handful of presents. Give in heart and spirit.

What are you thankful for? I am thankful for my friends. Without them, I don't know where I would be in life. Especially my friend, Trevor, I am thankful for him always being there for me, even when he was on the other side of the world on the edges of war. I am thankful for my family. I am thankful for the country we live in, and the freedoms I have, that I can wake in the morning without true fear and oppression.

What do you give? Give from the heart. Donate. Volunteer your time and energy to helping others. Do a good deal every day. Do all this throughout the year, not just for the jingling bells in front of stores. Giving should be for the betterment of yourself and others. Don't climb mountains so the world can see you, but so you can see the world.

Oh...and the new Star Wars is going to be amazing...
