Jarod Meyer Q&A

William of Archonia

William had a tough life, and when it comes to a sudden and inexplicable end, he realizes that he is far from prepared for what comes next. He is not only plunged into a new world, but another place of existence...Archonia. And in Archonia, the physical limitations of his previous life no longer bind him. Walking amongst ancient philosophers and heroes of old, he soon discovers that not only is he much stronger than he remembered, but powers once reserved for fictional superheroes lie just within his grasp. But as in life, his existence in Archonia isn't simple or easy. William quickly discovers that by Archonian standards his soul isn't pure, and in a twist, he wasn't supposed to be brought to Archonia at all. His one chance to remain in paradise is to become a Guardian, the strongest and most honored of warriors. He must learn to harness his true potential, fight the ingrained bigotry of this ancient world, and an unsuspecting plot that might just bring it all down around him. William's only chance at a second life is...REDEMPTION.

Q & A with Jarod Meyer

1) Tell us a bit about yourself. Any personal tidbits you’d like to share? I’m keen on anything that involves physical exercise as long as it’s not to crazy or hard on the body. 2) Tell us about your past and current works. Any future projects you’d like us to know about? I’m currently working on my William of Archonia series which will be four parts. I did however start a serial killer thriller series. 3) What inspired you to write your current project? I had a reoccurring dream about a figure standing in a field of long white grass. A thunderstorm echoes ominously on the horizon. Suddenly a brilliant light flashes and a magnificent sword is suspended in the air, waiting to be taken.

4) Why did you decide to start writing?

I had stories that I needed to tell. Vivid dreams I needed to express.

5) Who are some of your favorite authors & why? I really don’t have favorite authors, only stories. Anything that can pull me out of this world for a few moments is magical to me. 6) What do you think makes an author successful, and what makes their work resonate with people? I think anyone is successful when they’re honest, have a high level of integrity, and a positive attitude. 7) What were the biggest hurdles you had to overcome as an author? Editing...seriously. Even when you think your manuscript couldn’t possibly have anymore defects, other folks find them. 8) This is a personal question so feel free to answer how you want or to not answer. A lot of people in the creative arts suffer from depression, self-doubt, and hopelessness. Can you share a moment in your writing career where you felt these emotions? How did you overcome it? Do you have any advice for those currently struggling?

By remembering that without the lows, the highs in life wouldn’t seem so great. A harsh review can be debilitating to anyone. You don’t have anyone to compete with in this world except yourself.

9) What do you feel is the biggest reward with writing?

You get to essentially be a god. You can use words to express emotions that are difficult to verbalize. But mostly, you get to see your name on something special that you created.

10) Is there any advice that you can offer new writers?

The same advice Stephen king offered young writers. Read and write everyday.
